Quick Takes Vol. 4

--- 1 ---
I know you have been waiting all week to find out how the pool take down story ends.  So here is update #4 my husband finished the project, the pool is now located under my back deck for the winter.   I bet you can't wait until next summer for the drama of putting up the pool.

--- 2 ---
Have you checked out Catholics Come Home?  I some how ended up on this page and listened to the answers about salvation.  http://www.catholicscomehome.org/answers-salvation.php this short and straight answer about "being saved" is great really check it out.

--- 3 ---
Last Saturday after soccer our family went to Applefest a festival to raise money for our local cancer treatment center.  This year the girls got to climb all over tractors.

Eleanore driving a classic John Deere

Theresa was very excited by the Minneapolis tractor.

Do you watch soaps? Did you watch soaps growing up?  I have had the opportunity to watch some parts Days of Our Lives and so many of the same actresses and actors are back playing the parts that I know from my childhood. I am reminded of having to wait for Days to get over in the summer before my mom would take us kids swimming at 1:30.

I also like to see Young and the Restless and check to see who is still on the show. My grandma Marie watched it, I don't remember if it was important to be home at 11 to make sure she didn't miss the show or not.  Watching it reminds me of her TV cart and little 13 inch TV in the dinning room with Victor and Jack on it.

--- 5 ---
More Soapy feelings -  I miss Guiding Light!!! I think of the show often and fondly I was really into the new format before it was canceled.  I just might have to You Tube the beginning music and video from the 80s to get a fix.  Guiding Light was watched by my other grandma Laura and grandpa Joe.  I can remember the music and characters coming from the living room TV while sitting at the kitchen table in their home.

--- 6 ---
Reading I love books!! I love reading for fun!! I have not started a book in over a week. I am just not sure what I want to read next.

Should I check in on the people in Ceder Cove ?

What funny thing happens next to bounty hunter Stephanie Plum's in  Four to Score ?

What is happening in Virgin River?  I left off in the series with the church being sold if I remember correctly.

Why hasn't my turn come up at the library to borrow A Clash of Kings ?  I really want to know is winter coming?

--- 7 ---
Anne wearing Eleanore's tank top.  It is good to be the youngest girl all you have to do is open a dresser drawer and pull out a shirt carry it to a bigger girl and they will put it on you.

Quick Takes Vol 3

Swimming pool take down update #3.

I got it emptied and pulled upside down on Sunday.  I haven't done anything with it since then. Husband is back so maybe we or he can work on it this weekend.  I am already thinking about next year and what I will do different.  Maybe take it down sooner and be brave and climb inside to scrub walls and floor before taking all the water out.  Maybe I will search on Pinterest and find a great way to clean out dirt and put away the pool.

Keeping on topic a link to m board on Pinterest  you may wonder why so little pins.  Early on in my pinning excitement I learned that it isn't fun to have a bunch of dead links on the pins.  You know the ones that don't link back to the right page on a site or the site is gone.   So I like stuff then go back and check it out by making sure link is good and maybe even doing the project or cooking the food so I can leave a comment.  Some pins are so simple that you don't need directions so then I will just pin them.  Anyway if you want you can follow me on Pinterest I can't promise that I will change your life with a pin but, if you follow me I can then follow you.

Snack before bed on Wednesday.

So I could lie on the blog and pretend that I made these cookies.  I didn't my crafty, cooking and bake in sister-in-law did.  She is the best and lives just blocks away from our house, which is great!!

--- 4 ---
Our town is getting a school, after a long 30+ year wait my little town is getting a school.  my little town belongs inside the school boundaries for Bismarck (the North Dakota capital).  A school bond election was held on Tuesday and it passed with over 84% saying yes.  The school district hopes to bring two new 488 student elementary schools online by next August and 1 high school in three years with the bond..

--- 5 ---
I worked on the Vote Yes campaign for the school bond and was amazed at the results. I went to the result watching party and celebrated the victory with champagne and some tears.

I worked the social media part in the end our Facebook page had 390 likes. The Twitter account only got to 3 followers including me. I called 235 phone numbers between Sunday afternoon and Monday afternoon to remind people to vote.  All the calls were so worth the big victory!!

My baby Anne getting on or maybe it was off a toy horse for the first time

Anne turned 1 in July, even after three other children and many daycare kids I am amazed at all the firsts in life.
--- 7 ---

I am on the hunt for shoes to wear with a dress to a wedding the first weekend in October.  I have been on the hunt for many weeks, yesterday I started to look at dresses that would go with black shoes. I have good black heals that I like and are comfortable maybe purchasing a different dress would be easier then finding shoes to go with the dress I have.  What to do, maybe I can sneak a trip to Shoe Carnival in this weekend before I give up and go back to hunting for a dress.

Photo on to Canvas

Photo on to Canvas

This picture of the canvas looks pink but, it isn't just how the camera took the picture

I finished this pin awhile ago just didn't take a picture of the finish project till now.  The idea comes from this pin  http://pinterest.com/pin/163818505166248446/ .   It was very easy

I just used Mod Podge to glue the picture down and then did 2 coats of Mod Podge on top to give it a nice finish. I didn't paint the canvas black like in the directions so I just hot glued black ribbon around the edge to hide the white canvas on the side.  Very easy to to and inexpensive I purchased the 8*10 canvas at Wal-Mart for under $6.00 for two canvases.

Thanks For Hosting Jen and Camp Patton

--- 1 ---
Fall Soccer has started!  Here are some pictures from the first game that I will use to introduce my kids and use to take up some of the 7 Quick Takes
--- 2 ---

Theresa the oldest of the four and our family soccer player.  She isn't aggressive and often can be seen standing around waiting for the ball to come in contact with her foot but, she wants to play so we keep signing her up.
--- 3 ---
Eleanore the oldest middlest is her designation in the family.  She is a dancer and is currently in Pre-Ballet and when I am able to observe class I will post some pictures.  Not the best picture but, it was windy and a bit on the brisk side.
--- 4 ---
Laura Jo the littlest middlest, no there was not a goat at soccer but, I didn't photography her at the game.  A trip to the zoo required that you wear a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes, which to my three year old means a snow hat.
--- 5 ---
Anne the littlest, she has started to really started to walk this week. Which today at the library I uttered the words "maybe we shouldn't have taught you to walk" I swear she was running for the first time and with the sole purpose to lose me in all the shelving.
--- 6 ---
On Wednesday I started a week of being the sole parent.  Husband is often for a 1 week mission with National Guard. This is both fun for us girls as we have lots of "Girl Power!" when he is away and yet hard for me to get everything done in a day. Mostly it is the bedtime that is the problem. I have to spend sometime figuring out a better bedtime routine.

--- 7 ---
Pool take down update! Well my husband started the project last weekend didn't get all the water pumped out and left on Wednesday for a guard training out of town.  YEAH ME! Yesterday I ran sump pump and watered the grass and there is still water in the pool.  So back at it today once it warms up.

Quick Takes Vol 1

Quick Takes Vol. 1

Thanks Jen for hosting !

--- 1 ---

My first Quick Takes Yeah! I have now left my stalking behavior behind and join the fun.  As you can see I have not posted much in blogger land.  I hope, rather I plan on changing that fact .  How you may ask? I plan on posting something every week either a QTs or something else.  After stalking reading so many other QTs I think having a snapshot of my life week by week will be fun to look back at.

--- 2 ---
Labor Day was great! My big girls attended a high school football game with Amee  (grandma) and other family members. I was able to stay home and work on picking up backyard for mowing later on. Don't tell but, I also threw out some toys that were broke, worn out, and the little ones that are just clutter out in backyard.

--- 3 ---
School is back in session and so are busy evenings!  There was an event every night this week starting with dance on Monday, Vote Yes for Bismarck Public Schools on Tuesday, Faith Formation kick off at church, soccer on Thursday, and NFP meeting on Friday.

--- 4 ---
I believe that I have successfully created a blog post and scheduled it to post on Wednesday with no more interaction from me.  That is one more tool of Blogger I will have conquered.

--- 5 ---
In July I attend a Mathew Kelly event and I am ashamed to tell the Internet that I have not taken up one of his challenges.  The choices :

  • Attend Confession every month for 90 days ( which is only 3 months, I may have missed something and it could be a year)

  • Read from New Testament for 15 minutes everyday for 90 days

  • Use a mass journal to write one thing that strikes me in mass.  He was kind enough to give me a mass journal to use.  I have not opened the packaging yet, because I am not sure.

--- 6 ---
I have been working with a great group of people on a school bond project.  The local school district is trying to pass a bond to build 2 new elementary schools and 1 new high school.  One of the gals working on the project created a t-shirt.  Here is a picture  :

--- 7 ---
I think that this Sunday will be take down the pool for 2012 day at our house. It is always a bit sad to see the pool get put away.  I'll let everyone know how it goes, I have to learn about how to take it down since it will be my job next year.

Fabric Wall Art

Fabric Wall Art

It is finally done, this idea for fabric words on the wall came from Pinterest. I could not find the pin big surprise it seems that I look at the pins and then I don't go back to pin them.

I wanted to try this because it seem too simple, easy and inexpensive.  I never thought beyond using fusible webbing for fabric to fabric .

Supplies:
  • Fabric
  • Fusible Webbing
  • Letters - I printed my from MS Word

Iron the fusible webbing on to fabric, lay out letters backwards (I am not sure why this important but, for some reason it is).  Trace letters and cut out the letters.  Peel the back of webbing off and iron the letters to wall.  I placed a towel between letters and iron to help protect against nicks on the paint.

This has been up for over a week and no loose parts yet.

The original directions stated that the letters will peal off the wall and leave no marks, well someday I will check into that but, not anytime soon.
