Started Saturday with a sewing party at Sister-In-Law house.

Sunday brought a new day and week starting with my oldest turning 8.  She picked the lunch spot after church, Space Aliens.  The restaurant has a game room and I won 120 tickets on Deal or No Deal!! I was relieved that every girl got to get a few junky prizes.  Theresa also picked out a cake for her small Birthday party.  I was happy to eat and purchase a Dairy Cream Blizzard Cookie Dough Cake.  It was yummy!!

I think that Monday was boring this includes the final presidential debate.  It was boring and the husband and I did a little Netflixing instead.

Tuesday brought dentist appointments for Laura and Eleanore ~ No cavities YEAH!

I made it to the YMCA this week once! I have been averaging once a week for eternity or at least it seems like eternity. I may have to really think about if the membership dues are worth it.  I was so good for many months earlier in the year going 3 - 4 times a week.  I know I just have to DO IT like Nike!

Theresa had the first school program of the new school year on Thursday night. It was about spooky things like spiders, worms, and bats. It was cute and had good music.  She remembered her lines and seemed happy with her performance.  I took pictures but, forgot the tripod at home so the pictures are blurry.

Quick Takes Vol. 7

 

--- 1 ---

Team Horning started the weekend with the last soccer game of the season year YEAH. It was prefect weather for being outside in North Dakota: no wind, lightly cloudy, and temps in 60s.

Later in the afternoon we headed up to the North Dakota Heritage Center to say good-bye to our Mastodon friend who is being packed away.  We hope that he comes back when the Heritage Center reopens in 2013.

After the Heritage Center Team Horning can't miss the chance to see the capitol building. I know you can see the building from almost everywhere in North Dakota.

Sunday brought enrollment for Theresa in Reconciliation at church.  Theresa got to go to front of the church for question and answer time with Father and other 2nd graders.  She was kind of worried about the whole thing, which I assured her that there would be many other kids with her.

After church another visit to Papa's Pumpkin Patch with our guard Family Readiness Group.

To finish the night we attended a birthday party for my dad at his farm. The highlight was a toss up between our little cousin and mama cat.

North Dakota didn't have school on Thursday and Friday so the team was in full play mode

Quick Takes Vol.6

 

 

--- 1 ---

Our family started the week off with a wedding on Saturday afternoon.  The couple married at the church Team Horning attends. This worried me a lot, my four girls are not the quietest on Sunday mornings and they read books, color , and do strange things during mass.  As we drove to the wedding I went through rules that there would be no coloring, no talking, and they have to participate in the service. 

It went OK my middle little Laura moved from family member to family member trying to get a better look at the dress.  My littlest cried when she was denied exit from the pew during the vows.  All in all it was a great service and I was not too embarrassed to show my face at the reception.

The reception was at a hotel so the Team got to have a little staycation.  The hotel has a  sort of water park with a big slide so we spent both Friday and Saturday night.  I was able to get a suite with two rooms and three queen beds at a discounted wedding rate! I love a good discount.   The girls even swam after the wedding before supper and then again between supper and the dance.  All the swimming was thanks to some older cousins that were willing to change and watch them.

The bride and groom setup a kids table in the corner with coloring sheets, little toys, necklaces, and some noise makers.  Yeah for the noise makers!

A wedding dance is always a fun time with little kids.  My team didn't disappoint in running the dance floor and dancing till they fell asleep.

I brought my camera to the wedding in the hopes of getting a family picture taken. I don't know if was because the wedding was a 2 and the girls were tired but, Ella and the baby cried and pouted for picture taking.

I have not been doing very good with the photo challenge that I am participating in I have 4 days worth of photos to get off my card and posted into the challenge.  Maybe after working on this post I will do it.

My most exciting news for the week just might be purchasing tickets to George Strait. His finial tour is stopping in Grand Forks, North Dakota in February and I will be there.  This time I was able to participate in the presale for American Express card holders so my seats are not too bad.  Last time he was in North Dakota in Fargo the tickets I ended up with were kind of far away.

Quick Takes Vol. 5

I am participating in a photo challenge a day in October. My SIL Sara started it on Facebook.  She set up an event and we are just posting right on to the event,  nice and easy!

Have you every read/seen The Word Amoung Us ?  It is a little magazine/booklet with the Mass and daily meditations. I picked up a copy during lent and enjoyed reading the daily readings and the stories in the magazine.  Some kind person(s) has donated the money to purchase the magazine for every month. I am excited to have a copy for October. 

Even better for $1.99 a month I can get a copy for my Kindle.

On Monday I escorted 5 lovely ladies around Papa's Pumpkin Patch.  It was fun being at the patch with the 1st graders from Ella's school.

The weather is strange sometimes in North Dakota. The weather went from 80 on Tuesday to 40 on Wednesday with snow. I do watch the weather so I knew it was coming. I prepared by finally pulling out some plants from the flower beds. I have been procrastinating for weeks on the project.  I felt good when it was done.

Why do I procrastinate on certain projects (like any involving work).  It seems like it hard to get motivated to do something extra in the day.  Extra meaning cleaning something that isn't done daily like bathroom, windows, garden, or even going through a stack of papers. Maybe I should focus on finding some good pins about procrastination

If you haven't checked Ashley's post from last week An Open Letter to Food you must. I was inspired by the post to purchase a Big Mac meal for the game pieces (I won free fries), to track down a Target employee about Oreos (the Oreos were sold out), and to even comment on the post (my first).

Because the Oreos were all gone I decided that I had to find some kind of treat at Target.
